The bright blue, white-pillared Tsambagarav Hotel officially opened in November 2007, making it the newest and largest hotel in town. Named for the famous Tsambagarav Mountain in Hovd (the third tallest mountain in Mongolia), this three-story hotel contains 23 rooms and a total of 59 beds. The hotel has its own hot water and heating system, though the hot water only works in the mornings and evenings. There is a large snooker table on the second floor that can be rented for 3,000T per hour. At the time of our visit they were in the process of building an internet lounge on the first floor, as well as a pub on the third floor. The restaurant on the 1st floor serves quality food at reasonable prices, and also has an adjacent karaoke lounge that has become a popular nightspot. Entry to the lounge is 1,000T, and it is free to sing after that, though there might be a bit of a wait for your turn to come around. The room descriptions break down as follows, note that all room rates include breakfast, served at the restaurant on the first floor:
Lux Rooms:
There are 7 Lux Rooms in the hotel, although this number includes 2 Master Lux Rooms that cost 35,000 and 30,000T per night, respectively. The 35,000T Room (Room 206) was substantially nicer than the 30,000T Room (Room 207). The other five Lux Rooms are all doubles and triples and cost between 12,500T per bed. The Lux Rooms each come with their own mini-refrigerator and also come with their own bathrooms and hot water showers.
Half-Lux Rooms
There are 8 Half-Lux Rooms in the hotel. Five of them are doubles and three are triples. These rooms are rented by the room, not by the bed, and cost either 22,000 or 25,000T for the room. The difference between the Lux and Half-Lux rooms appeared to be negligible, aside from the Lux Rooms' mini-refrigerators and newer carpeting. The Half-Lux rooms are on the third floor, and also come with their own bathrooms and hot water showers.
Simple Rooms
There are 8 Simple Rooms in the hotel, three new ones were added in the past year. These are the least expensive Simple Rooms in town. They each have either 2 or 4 beds in them, and cost 5,000T per bed. All of the Simple Rooms share the common bathroom down the hall. There is a separate stall for men and women, as well as a shower stall.
