Hovd Theater
The large, bright-red Hovd Theater is perhaps the aimag center’s easiest landmark to find, opposite the main square. It’s the home of the well-known “Altain Tsuurai”, a group that plays traditional Mongolian music. The theater keeps a busy schedule, and regularly hosts concerts, meetings, dance performances, and plays. It is also one of the premiere venues for seeing Khoomii performances (throat singing – which has it Mongolian roots in Chandmani soum of Hovd), as well as long song, and music played on the morin khuur, dombre, and other traditional instruments.
